HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

It's a New Year and the store is beginning to fill up with lots of color. We were blessed with a very busy holiday and very long days.

For me personally, 2008 was like being on a roller coaster with all the ups and downs that one rides. In April our family lost my Mother in law, Nelle, whom many of you knew through all my stories. This was a great loss for our family, she lived with us for the last nine years. In June I was fortunate to travel with Kris to market in Ohio. I have a greater appreciation for how hard this really is. There are so many yarns and really so little time to make major decisions. As a knitter we all experience failure as well as success. My failure or should I say less successful endeavor was the fall felting class. Those who took my class had great fun outside playing with wool, soap and water. Lunch was served as well as some great refreshments, but our projects were not that successful, I'll do better next time. As a knitter you learn to put that behind you and move on. There is too much to learn to let one incident shelve your needles. I pulled out some wonderful SWTC Bamboo yarn and "Knit Kimono" by Vicki Square, with beautiful and challenging patterns. WOW, after nine weeks of solid knitting I had completed the Reeds & Grasses kimono. Check it out in the store on display.

The New Year is here and we have been busy cleaning, restocking and getting ready for new classes. You will find my sock classes, baby items, a new technique vest, summer shell, and I almost forgot our 13 month Afghan project plus many, many more. Classes begin the first week of February so check the website, online by the end of this week, read the newsletter, call or even come in and we will sign you up.

Pick up your needles, learn a new techinique and get knitting!!

Going High Tech!

Many of you may be surprised to find out that Katie and Kris are going high tech, moving into the twenty first century and becoming BLOGGERS!  It's a big step for us non-techie, traditional gals but we feel as though this is going to be a wonderful chance to stay in touch with all of you and let you know about all the exciting things happening at the shops!  We are aiming to blog multiple times a week so you will want to check back often.  The most exciting part is that Katie and Kris will not be the only KnitWitts blogging!  Kim and Lisa will also be adding their two cents worth and personal touches to the blog.  If you check the blog we will attempt to keep you updated on what is about to happening in the weeks approaching and talk about the event after it is over.  We will also tell you about the latest items we are working on and the ones we have completed.  With that being said for all of you who have UFO at our house, be sure to pull then out of your knitting bags and bring them in if you need help with restarting that project.

Last week we started the holidays early with our holiday wine party.  We had a great group of ladies and the wine and food were fantastic.  The gifts we gave the ladies when they arrived seemed to please all.  After the gifts, everyone won other prizes and even more the ladies enjoyed using their discounts in both shops.  For those that didn't attend, remember it next year.  It is promised as being an exciting night for all!!

And for everyone who might have not read the newsletter we want to remind you that Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the 7th, 8th and 9th of November is our Holiday Open House.  We hope to see you there when you stop in for the excitement!  Also for those marking their calendars, or their loved ones calendar, be sure to put down December 11th as a very important evening.  It is Beer, Bratwurst and Margariatia night.  Your family and friends can shop off of your wish list (be sure to stop in and fill it out), eat, drink and have a wonderful evening.  And the best part is that you are guaranteed to unwrapped exactly what you wished for, which means no long return lines after the holidays!

Now remember check our blog often and in a world of oysters, let KnitWitts be your Purl!
